![]() ![]() My question is whether I risk corrupting my imovie library package if i delve into it to find and delete this large. m4v file created when the project was shared to itunes, remains with the sub folders of the iMovie 10 library package, and there is no easy way to delete it. If I choose to delete the project, in the way you describe, the project is deleted and the clips used to make up that project (that have been copied from the original media location) are also deleted and space freed up. ![]() It is stored within the package of the iMovie10 library, and hence makes the library get very large very quickly. m4v file it creates (usually many GB in size) is not stored in an accessible folder that I can manage. However in iMovie 10, when you create a project and choose to share it with iTunes (not YouTube), the resulting. Hence it is easy to delete them in Finder if you no longer want them. m4v files are created in a folder called iMovie Sharing within the main MOVIES folder. m4v movie file which is linked to iTunes Home Movies, so allowing you to watch the movie in iTunes, or on an AppleTV4k connected locally to the iTunes folder on my Mac. The delete procedure has two steps, but the purpose is to prevent accidental deletion of original media. NOTE: Be aware that removing clips from the iMovie library will remove them from all projects that may be referencing those clips, so the projects will be disabled. You must delete the event itself, not just the media within it, in order to remove the media from the iMovie Library. To remove the media from the iMovie library (and thus your hard drive) select the event in the media sidebar and do a File/Delete Event. The Event's name will appear in the media library sidebar. The project will then be deleted, but the media it contains will be sent to an Event that bears the project's name. Click on the little circle to get a drop down menu where you can click on Delete Project. If you want, you can delete the project itself and the media it contains by opening the projects browser (where your projects are displayed as icons), then moving your cursor over the project icon to reveal a little circle with dots in it to the right of the project's title. ![]() In other words, it is not saved to the iMovie library - it is saved in You Tube. A shared file to You Tube is a standalone Mp4 movie that is outside the iMovie system (library), so you don't need to worry about deleting it from iMovie. ![]()
